About Us

Hello and welcome to Story Plate! My name is Fiona and I will be your host today as you navigate through our site.

To explain what Story Plate is, I need to start with why I created this site.


A little over a year ago, I was a partner in an apparel company that gave back to children in need. For each item sold, our company would give a bag of groceries to a child suffering from food insecurity in the U.S. I had the opportunity to help thousands of children during my time there. Since then, I didn't feel as though I was doing much to support the cause, but then came the idea for Story Plate.

Whilst cooped up sheltering at home during COVID seeing story after story of people losing their jobs, not being able to take care of their families, reports of children that once relied on school subsidized meals now going without - it all weighed heavily on my mind. In an attempt to focus my energy on something positive, I decided to get to work on finding a creative way to help those in need from afar.

As a female in business, I wanted to support other girl bosses by creating a female-first platform! What does this mean? We're here to put the spotlight on female chefs, restaurateurs, and mixologists. In a male dominated industry where females are often overlooked for opportunities and accolades, we're choosing to highlight these women's stories, share their recipes, and at the same time make a difference in our communities together.


Story Plate is a recipe sharing platform for good. Not only are we sharing recipes, we'll also be sharing the stories of the people behind the plate - the chef that worked three jobs and lived off ramen for years so she could open up her own shop, the engineering student that decided she'd rather study pastries than build airplanes. These culinary contributors will be sharing original or fan-favorite recipes that you won't be able to find anywhere else.

Here's the best part. For every $2 recipe download you purchase, 85% will go towards the culinary contributor's charity! 10% of your download will go to the culinary contributor's business - we encourage them to use this money to do something good for their staff who work so hard for them: a nice treat, a little bonus, or something for the community. The remaining 5% will go towards keeping this site live and active so that we can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need. You will also have the option to make a larger contribution to the charity, an additional $5 or $10, 100% of which will go straight to the charity! 

We hope that you not only discover new favorite dishes on this platform, but you'll also discover new restaurants to add to your travel list.

Oh're still reading. Well, if you're interested, here's a little background on who I am and how I'm living that Story Plate life... 


I LOVE a good story and sharing a good story with others, so much so that I turned it into a career. 

I've been in the story telling business now for over a decade. My first big break was at a lifestyle publication where I wrote and assigned content as the Managing Editor. I then ventured off to be a freelance journalist covering local spots for city guides, and dabbled a little in trend reporting for fashion editorials. These days I'm a content marketer specializing in digital story telling platforms.


So why food?

Food is VERY important to me. I live to eat, I don't just eat to survive - eating is my favorite hobby. If I'm not out meeting friends for a meal, I'm at home cooking for guests. When planning a trip, one of the first things I do is research all the restaurants that I want to try and then planning my days accordingly.
