This recipe gives back to Aids Action, an organization that helps the most vulnerable in our society. It is based in Boston, so is a local organization. It offers hope for the homeless and assistance to those affected with HIV/AIDS and populations at risk of infection. In 2013, AIDS Action became a part of Fenway Health, which works to make life healthier for the people in our neighborhoods, the LGBTQ community and people living with HIV/AIDS and the broader population.
WINE & BEVERAGE DIRECTOR BERNIE KEAVENEY'S STORY
Bernie was raised on a farm in rural western Ireland. She has always possessed an affinity for wonderful food and believes in the farm-to-table approach. Bernie pursued other careers in Software and Chemistry, before realizing that the restaurant industry had the pulse she so desired.
La Morra was where Bernie eventually found her footing. Bernie always possessed a passion for wine, cocktails and people and La Morra offers a perfect balance of each.
Bernie received her ‘Italian Wine Specialist’ qualification, with honors, from the North American Sommelier Association and her French Wine Specialist Certification, with honors, from the French Wine Society. Furthermore, Bernie received a distinction for her Level 3 WSET Certification.
At La Morra Bernie and Jen prefer to choose producers who hold similar values and firmly believe in meeting the wine makers and their families and visiting their vineyards to really appreciate and understand their passion and tradition. Biodiversity and environmental care are of utmost importance to us in selecting all our wine.
Bernie also focuses on a seasonal cocktail menu highlighting the classics, while also offering contemporary twists. Bernie demonstrates a huge love of amaros, bitters and tinctures and regularly features these in her cocktails.
